Hmmmm

Hmmmmmm

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Its cloudy -- its foggy -- its cold. Oh well -- at least its a day off... Sort of -- untill it clears up sometime this afternoon.

I just realized last night that i have a few books written by John Acorn (the nature nut) and damnit that made me happy. That guy is such a boss. Fyi he's from Edmonton! Maybe i will stalk him over the winter. Like a bear hunting a deer. He's into nature and stuff i'm sure he wouldn't mind being hunted like a prey animal...
But really -- Acorn the Nature Nut was one of my favorite shows as a kid -- that and Bill Nye (who lets face it has become a bit of a crank in his older years -- as in he wont shut up about global warming) Acorn and Nye should make a show together called 'Having Words With Nerds'. I would watch...

And no i'm not denying global warming i just think he sounds douchy and pretentious and pedantic when he talks down to people about it. We get it Bill -- your smart -- go back to being enthusiastic and full of wild eyed wonder. Nobody like a bitter old man.

Exept maybe that kid who throws a baseball through said bitter old mans window one day.

And then the bitter old man makes the kid do chores to pay off the damage.

And the old man teaches cool stuff to the kid and the kids teaches the old guy to be not so bitter.

And they learn from each other and then in the final scene of the movie the boy is all grown up and he is reminiscing at the cemetery about their friendship like the way saving private ryan ends?
Wholy crap oscar gold. Somebody turn that shit into a movie script.

Whats that? Its been done? A thousand times you say? Done to death you say?

Ok -- so maybe i have my own things i'm bitter about. Let me tell you one:

A Game Of Thrones. -- WHAT TRASH. Everyone is talking about it today because the episode with the red wedding happened last night. As if that's anything to be all butthurt about. -- The author obviously got writers block and had not planned his story out from start to finish (having a start and a finish leaves out all the important bits that get you from one end to the other -- they are IMPORTANT) and his compelling first novel is followed by a steepening downward slide into crap. But since the TV show started his fan base has exploded with people who wouldn't be caught dead reading a book much less a fantasy novel and nobody seems to realize that the TV show is finishing its third season while the author has only written what -- 2 books in like 11 years? But all these new fans are glomming on about it (and that's cool - I like that its so popular...) but they haven't read the books and they bitch about having their story spoiled by people who have read the books and they spout wild ass theories of "here's what i think is going to happen" that are just a pain because YOU'RE ALREADY WRONG. Why am i bitter? Because the story is interesting and i have been waiting for the books to be published for years and now I'm surrounded by people highly anticipating the next season of a show that frankly went WAAAAAY downhill after the first season and i have a sneaking suspicion that GRRM is going to choke on a fist sized chunk of ham (he doesn't chew you know -- or atleast he looks like he doesn't) and the books he has published are not of the same quality as the first 3 and the 6th book looks like its going to be done in about 12 THOUSAND YEARS.

Honestly? At this point i'm not even that keen on reading the book -- i just want to find out how he tries to tie everything back up. But i have my doubts -- This guy loves to punch up his novels with squik because he thinks its compelling and unexpected. And i suppose it is unexpected. Lord knows i never expect to find shit on the heel of my boot but 'there it is'. So if you want to know what happens to the characters you are following let me provide you with this educated guess -- They are either: Raped, Rape raped, Rape murdered, Murdered, Or they are disenfranchised of everything they had and live out sad pathetic lives compared to what they once were.

If i wanted to read a story about people failing miserably or being terrible or depressing i would go get the newspaper. Its not compelling to grind your characters into the ground over and over. Its tiresome. Being gritty is good sometimes but too much grit will strip a story of any lustre it may have once had.

Bah... Bah humbug. Sometimes when i think about ASOIAF i feel like i'm Ebeneezer Scrooge at christmas time.

If you want a cool fantasy show that ends well go watch the movie Fire and Ice. Its lots of fun and it even has cartoon titties. Booyeah cartoon titties.

And now i really want to watch HEAVY METAL again. Dammit that movie is cool. That song is going to be stuck in my head aaaaaallllll day. If you know the movie you know the one.

On to a lighter note -- i made bread yesterday! mmmm sourdough -- its my 4th loaf and my 3rd sour -- i think it turned out great but its a bit thin -- i need to make a bigger batch of dough so i can fill the roasting pan i have. Its soooo good.

..
I had some with nutella this morning -- and eggs and bacon. Good food for a foggy morning at LOCATION REDACTED
.
.
Ahh -- the flower bed i made (one of them) its got runner beans and sunflowers in it -- we will see if they decide to grow.
.
Violets sure are liking the rain... The lawn is speckled with tiny purple blooms.
.
An owl that swooped by and perched at the edge of my site last night. Hopefully he eats some of the critters who are pissing me off.  Its not a good picture -- it was like -- 1130 at night and he flew away right after i went out to take a picture of him.
.
And that was the sky last night...
Fantastic view.

K i'm done now.
